A first action of our French EcoGuardians, Elise and Joe, in support of dune re-vegetation in the coastal town of Frontignan! 🌿
🟢 EcoGuardians is a European project led by six countries 🇮🇹🇺🇦🇪🇸🇫🇮🇧🇬🇫🇷 and funded by the Erasmus+ programme. It mobilises and supports young people in taking action for biodiversity.
🟢 In France, the CPIE Littoral d’Occitanie is supporting two young people: Elise and Joe.
🟢 They are working with the Beach Residents’ Committee, with the backing of the Town of Frontignan, on the re-vegetation of the dune system within the municipality, focusing on two pilot sites: Front de mer and la Grande Bleue. 🌊
Two key events have already taken place:
🔹 On December 17, a rich and participatory exchange meeting was held to present the experimental project planned for Frontignan, allowing the community to collectively discuss the future implementation of works involving residents.
🔹 On January 8, the Bagnas Nature Reserve welcomed the Beach Residents’ Committee and our two EcoGuardians at Grand Clavelet. There, they met with the reserve’s curator, Mr. Xavier Fortuny (ADENA – Bagnas Nature Reserve), conducted an inventory of dune species present, and asked questions about the management of these areas. 🌱
Following this visit, Elise and Joe will define the project’s future developments in coordination with the citizen committee and the town council. Thank you all for your commitment to this wonderful project, to our partners, and to our passionate EcoGuardians. 🥰
👋 We look forward to sharing more updates on the project’s progress soon!
